    How to Mod Halo 3 Forge Variants

    Requirements: Toy Box(Has all modding tools), Xbox Softmod files[foundry map], and Xport or Xsata.

    First we will show you how to mod with an example on a blank canvas. We are going to use foundry. Spawn a mongoose in an open area of the map.





    Note: The spawn point which is noted the by arrows, determines the direction of the modded object, the blue pointy tip is the front, the gray round end is the back.

    After you spawn the mongoose, save the map.

    Start your XSATA or Xport device and open Xplorer360. Go to Partition 3/Content/(your profile ID)/4D5307E6/00000001 You can now see a list of Map Variants,Game
    Variants,Film Clips and films. Look for a Map Variant with the date you saved your map on Foundry. Once you find it Right Click and press "Extract" Doesn't matter where you extract it to just make sure you put it somewhere you can remember.

    Now, go to XboxSoftMods [files] » Unmodded maps for various Xbox / 360 games and find the clean foundry map and download it.

    When you downloads finish open your Halo 3 Tool Box.



    Go to menu then Map Editors and select Johnson 1.4, open it.



    When Johnson is opened click file and open your warehouse.map file the you should of downloaded already.



    When you open warehouse.map with Johnson is should like something like below, select tags.



    Now, go back to the halo 3 toy box and go down to "Other" and Select HxD Hex Editor, when it opens press Ctrl+O and it should open a menu to browse for the usermap you extracted from your hardrive through Xport or Xsata.

    When HxD opens your map it should be just a bunch of random numbers and letters.

    Now, we go back to Johnson, scroll down until you see something named Vehi, expand that and you should see a list of vehicles that can be put into foundry.



    Since we put down a mongoose, look for it inside the Vehi tag, once you have found it click on it and to the right it should say Identifier.



    Copy the identifier and go back to HxD, In HxD at the top it should say File, Edit , Search and so on. Click on search. In search click find and it should give you a box to input the identifier you copied and under it, it should say Datatype, make sure you CHANGE IT TO HEX VALUES.



    Then hit ok, it should bring you to the Identifier you just search for and highlighted it for you. Now go back to Johnson and we're making a clone of a spartan so close the Vehi tag and go up to the Bipd Tag. Choose the one that says Master Chief
    and copy the identifier of it. Go back to HxD paste the ID of the spartan over the ID of the Mongoose. The line in HxD should turn red.



    Now go to file and select save. Go back to your halo 3 tool box and go to resigners and select con resigner. On it, go to open, open you usermap, make sure it is not the .bak file because that is the back up and click resign.



    Congrats, your done all you need to do it Xport it or Xsata it back to your xbox 360.
