    E3 2008 Get Ready!!!

Post by MoRa on Sat Jun 21, 2008 5:00 pm

Get ready for one of the game industry's biggest events of the year: the annual E3 Media & Business Summit, better known simply as E3, which takes place this year in Los Angeles from July 15-17. The three days of the expo won't be the only days in which you can expect to see new games and announcements; this year, as with other years, several major game companies will be making big news before the show at their press conferences.

As always, GameSpot will be there to bring you press-conference coverage, as well as full coverage of what's happening on the show floor, and completely exclusive sneak peeks at upcoming games on our live-video stage show... In fact, some of the stuff we'll have onstage this year won't even be at E3. The only place that you can find all of the biggest games at the show (and the biggest games not at the show) will be on GameSpot. Be sure to join us.

    Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
    Release Date: Sep 23, 2008
    Genre: Fantasy Online Role-Playing
    Platform: PC

This upcoming massively multiplayer game will focus on competitive head-to-head play online, all the time. Warhammer Online will combine the colorful fantasy (and dark humor) of the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay universe with the years of experience of the creator of Dark Age of Camelot. We can't wait to see the result.

    Tomb Raider Underworld
    Release Date: Nov 3, 2008
    Genre: Modern Action Adventure
    Platform: PS3, PC, PS2, PS3, X360, DS, WII

The adventurer known as Lara Croft hasn't always starred in the best video games around, but her luck has changed for the better in recent years, given that the Tomb Raider series has shown steady improvement. Now, Lara is preparing for her next adventure, equipped with slick motion-captured animations and new acrobatic maneuvers to solve all-new puzzles and perform new feats of derring-do.

    Lego Batman
    Release Date: Sep 1, 2008
    Genre: Modern Action Adventure
    Platform: PS2, PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, X360, DS, WII

Remember Batman? He's back, in Lego form. That's right, the Dark Knight, the guardian of Gotham City, returns in an all-new Lego action game that will take the grim adventures of the caped crusader and portray them in a slightly more family-friendly light.

    The Sims 3
    Release Date: Dec 31, 2008
    Genre: Virtual Life
    Platform: X360, PC, PS3, X360

The next edition of The Sims will feature expanded options for the world's most interactive little computer people. Houses and neighborhoods for your virtual families will all exist in the same space, sims will age and have more complex emotional responses, and the new game will offer even more in-depth character customization.

    Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
    Release Date: Sep 16, 2008
    Genre: Action
    Platform: X360, PS2, PS3, PSP, X360, DS, WII

This upcoming action game will take place in the legendary Star Wars universe and, as you've probably already seen in various video trailers, will put a huge emphasis on in-game physics. As a fledgling Jedi, you'll not only wield a lightsaber, but also the power of the Force, which will let you levitate and toss around your enemies as well as elements in the world around them.

    Release Date: Sep 7, 2008
    Genre: Strategy
Platform: PC, PC, DS, WII, MAC

This ambitious and highly unusual game will let you create a new race of sentient beings from the primordial soup on up through the vast reaches of space. From what we've seen of Spore, the game will offer both accessible gameplay and an absolutely huge range of social-networking features that we can't wait to see more of.

    Soulcalibur IV
    Release Date: Jul 29, 2008
    Genre: 3D Fighting
    Platform: PS3, PS3, X360

The next Soulcalibur fighting game will feature a returning cast of all your favorite characters, along with a brand-new main character and a few bonus characters for each console in the form of some of the greatest Jedi knights in the galaxy. That's right, Darth Vader and Yoda are coming to the world of Soulcalibur, and they're packing lightsabers.

    Saints Row 2
    Release Date: Oct 14, 2008
    Genre: Modern Action Adventure
    Platform: X360, PC, PS3, X360

The sequel to the original Saint's Row will pick up where the previous gangbanging, open-ended action game left off. You'll play the role of the previous game's protagonist and go on a brand-new quest to take over the town of Stilwater and exact a little street justice.

    Resistance 2
    Release Date: Nov 4, 2008
    Genre: Modern First-Person Shooter
    Platform: PS3

The alien-busting sequel to Resistance: Fall of Man will feature more explosive first-person shooter action and two separate campaigns: one single-player mission for Sergeant Nathan Hale, plus an additional co-op campaign for you and your friends.

    Resident Evil 5
    Release Date: May 5, 2009
    Genre: Horror Action Adventure
    Platform: X360, PS3, X360

This heavily anticipated sequel takes place in the heart of Africa as special agent Chris Redfield returns for a new assignment that, if the trailers are any indication, involves shooting and punching zombies. We know that Resident Evil 5 will build on the superior action of Resident Evil 4, and we're looking forward to seeing more at E3.
